I am leaving Saturday morning for Washington DC. I am attending the NAHU (National Association of Health Underwriters) Capitol Conference where I am supposed to meet legislators and discuss my (free market) ideas on how health care should be run. It turns out that I am going to meet with a bunch of interns!
Nothing against an intern (Bill love's 'em) but I am going to pour my brain power out for a 22 year old? Can they even spell health care? Keep in mind that when my kids go to college, one in 7 years and the other in 11 years…but who is counting, I am going to pack up my stuff and move to DC-just for a year and work for a politician. It is a lifelong dream of mine to work in the thick of the political hot spot of the world. Do you think they will even hire me? I will be a 45 year old women with lots of experience in the real world. I know what sexual harassment is (and sometimes welcome it).
I'm off topic......what I am trying to say is that I am so thrilled to go to Washington, meet with the bright, young faced interns that will write policy that could potentially change the face of American life.
Hopefully, that great Mexican food restaurant is still open near the Cannon building...God knows I will need a margarita!
Oh...did I mention that I am taking my 10 year old son and my X-mother in law along on this trip? My 10 year old is in the gifted program at school and he is doing a project on our ethical duty to vote.....I LOVE that boy.
Tequila for everyone,
Misty B.

Worth my weight in flowers....(I wish)
Remember my client, Kenny W? The guy that brought me flowers for looking at his claims?
Well, after I reviewed his stack of paperwork, I discovered that the hospital overcharged him....by $1,400!
Kenny and I made a phone call to the hospital (I had to leave a message and the call was never returned) and asked the hospital to look into the claim. After waiting 5 days for a return phone call, Kenny W called again and spoke to a live body. He was told that they would look into his request and get back to him in 10 days.
Well, 10 days came and went and finally, his phone rang. He was overcharged and he was due a refund. The hospital didn't exactly say that he was overcharged....they made a mistake in calculations.
I wonder what Kenny would have done had he not had an agent? I believe that his pocket would have remained $1,400 lighter.....and with the threat of recession in the US, Kenny can now go and spend money to stimulate the economy rather than over pay the hospital.
One last stab....do you think the hospital would ever catch that they were overpaid? BCBS paid them, Kenny paid them, too.....the hospital held on to Kenny's hard earned dollars for more than 30 days. There ought to be a law against that.
