I am going to start this little gem of an article by saying that I am not a financial expert. I can barely spell economy much less know how it works. So, please- don’t take a word of what I am writing seriously….well, take it a little seriously and send spare change to bail me out.
So, I own this little company- Lonestar Benefit Solutions. I make a fair living and feed my 2 growing boys. I save a little, own a home and lease a nice car. I’m not rich, but choose to pay my bills on time and live (mostly) within my means….but in the gloom and doom of the economy I am a little worried about a recession and another great depression. My company is no AIG but do you think I could talk the US Congress (and taxpayers) into bailing my company out if it all went south? And, no I don’t make $22 million a year to run my little slice of the American pie.
I need a financial scholar here (Krueger & Catalano to the rescue) to explain to me why in the heck taxpayers are footing the bill for fortune 500 company’s mistakes?
An idea that I stole from the internet….why don’t we just give American’s the $700+ billion and let us spend/save/invest it? Are we too stupid to take care of our own financial matters? What happened to personal responsibility? Why does anyone want to suck the government tit?
I have no idea what a bailout will do or will not do for our country. But I’m going on the record to say that if my little company (and the only profession that I am good at) goes under….my hand is out and I will be looking for a bailout too. I hope you vote yes to helping out small business on Main Street, USA.
Looking for loose change under the sofa,
Misty B.
